Toni Morrison’s writing has been a very meaningful influence in my journey of becoming a writer. Per Morrison’s advice, writing the book that I don’t see in the world feels important to me, and that is why I write. I am currently working on a collection of short stories and a novel. My writing both with my creative nonfiction (CNF) and fiction seeks to examine, observe and report on the liminal spaces I have occupied as a woman, an immigrant, a graduate student, a professor and as a parent.
Culture, place and food are big influences in my CNF essays and fiction.
